We are currently seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Video Quality Control (QC) Technician to join our production team.

The Role:
As a Video QC Technician, you will play a critical role in our digitisation pipeline. You will be responsible for performing thorough technical quality checks on newly digitised video files produced from a wide variety of legacy videotape formats.

You will evaluate both visual and audio fidelity, ensuring that digital outputs meet stringent client technical specifications and that any replay artefacts from physical tape playback are correctly identified, classified, and addressed.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform rigorous manual and automated Quality Control (QC) on digital video master files derived from legacy videotapes.
* Identify, document, and report tape-based replay issues (e.g., head clogs, tracking errors, dropouts, timecode breaks, RF loss, interlace issues, and sync errors).
* Analyse audio tracks for phase issues, distortion, level compliance, sync drift, and tape-induced noise.
* Verify file formats, wrappers, codecs, metadata, and aspect ratios against project specifications.
* Liaise with machine operators and transfer technicians to determine if a tape requires re-cleaning, re-baking, or re-transfer.
* Maintain detailed QC logs and error reporting within our digital asset management systems.

What We Are Looking For:
*Quality Control Experience: Demonstrated experience performing technical QC on digital video files within a post-production, broadcast, or archiving environment.
*Videotape Awareness: Strong, practical knowledge of legacy videotape formats (e.g., Betacam SP/Digital, U-matic, DVCAM, 1-inch C-Format etc.) and deep familiarity with tape-based replay artefacts.
* Technical Eye & Ear: An eye for video defects and a trained ear for audio anomalies.
* Software & Tools: Experience working with video monitoring tools, waveform monitors, vectorscopes, and media inspection software.
* Attention to Detail: Methodical approach to work with high accuracy when logging bugs and metadata. Ability to stick with a process-driven repetitive workflow.

Salary:
Circa $75,000 pa plus super, negotiable based on experience. Initially offered as a fixed term contract until 30 June 2027, with a possible further 12 month extension.
