Animation Director

We're Hiring: Animation Director (Contract)
Location: Hybrid / Cremorne (Melbourne)
Contract: September 2025 - May 2026

We’re on the lookout for a 2D Animation Director to take a key creative and leadership role on the second season of a rigged animated series for children’s television.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Animator or Animation Supervisor ready to take the next step in their career. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for composition, posing, and continuity. You’ll work closely with our creative leads to elevate the characters’ performances and comedic timing. With an established style in place, your role will be to build on the strengths of Season 1 and help push the series even further.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and guide our external animation team, providing clear, constructive feedback on performance, posing and timing.
- Maintain visual and stylistic consistency with the first season, while identifying opportunities to push character acting and action beats.
- Review and annotate shots, flagging creative or technical issues and working to solve them efficiently.
- Collaborate with the Series Director, Lead Designer, and Production Team to meet schedule and creative goals.
- Foster a positive and productive working relationship between Lee Bones and our animation studio, championing a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect.

About You:
- 4+ years of experience in 2D animation production
- Strong grasp of performance-driven animation and comedic timing
- Experience working with rigged pipelines (Toon Boom Harmony preferred)
- Ability to match established animation styles and work within series guidelines
- Excellent communication skills with a talent for delivering clear, constructive feedback
- Organised, deadline-driven, and comfortable working with remote teams
- Collaborative, calm under pressure, and focused on creative problem solving
